Growing up
as an actor and musician constantly surrounded by entertainment,
DJ’ing was a very natural progression for Karl. As a child of
the 80’s and listening to his parents Vinyl collection, he was
heavily influenced by retro and jazz but greatly appreciates
modern styles from hip hop, funk, soul, dance, to electro house
and hard Rock!
The last few years have seen karl
performing around sydney’s top venues as a commercial DJ and an
acoustic solo artist on the club and corporate circuit.
2009 saw him start
fusing these two worlds together when he started introducing a
live element to his DJ sets Karl Frederick is on a mission to
inject the rock element into house music. It has been done on
record with the likes of the Bodyrockers and The Presets
(without guitars mind you!) Karl is doing it live with his red
special guitar cranked to the max and his soulful vocals.
Having given his show a thorough workout during 2009 with
residences at Homemade Saturdays at Home nightclub Sydney and
the mean fiddler, heading into 2010 will see him touring with
his act and adding new editions of keys and a samplers to max
out the live element.
He is currently spending his spare
time (and cash) on creating the dance tunes of the future!!
