ITF National Scratch Champion 2005

When  young Samrai saved up enough money he bought something that would change his life forever. He marched straight into a record store and snapped up a pair of turntables and a mixer.

From that day, DJ Samrai was born. Practicing mixing for hours in his bedroom, Samrai dreamed of becoming the first ever Australian to win the world finals of the DMC Championships.

Watching DJ Samrai cut up the turntables is like watching a great chef prepare a meal or a gifted musician deftly playing the piano; there's a genius at work and you are forced to stop and stare.   

For a 22 year-old DJ, Samrai has achieved more than most people his age. In 2000, a young Samrai took out the first place in the NSW DMC & NSW ITF Championships and second place in the national competition. Spurred on by his dogged determination, the following year he took out both the NSW Championships and was crowned the winner of the Australian finals, crowning him DMC National Champion.

Later that year the young Samrai competed at the DMC World finals in London and gained an amazing top 14 ranking in the world. The youngest DJ to ever represent Australia (20 years-old) continued to practice for hours in his bedroom an d narrowly missed out on the top spot in the Australian finals in 2002. Samrai has a dream to one day become the first ever Australian DJ to win the DMC World Championship and conquer the world club scene, with his determination and skills, you know it's only a matter of time.

Samrai is a member of the internationally recognized Chief Rockers crew which consist of the top djs in the world Djs: Pogo and Shortee blitz (UK) Naiki (Japan) Avee (US) Nino Brown (Aus) and has wowed crowds with his turntabling skills all around the country. Samrai is currently preparing for his Asian tour which sees him playing in the top clubs in Malaysia, Indonesia,Philippines, Singapore, Kuala lumpa and Japan, Just the beginning Samrai admits as his road to world domination!

Samrai is the first Turtablists/Club Dj along with Nino Brown to be signed to a Major record label (Universal Music),Samrai recently selected and mixed the 'Blazin' 2' CD for Universal Music that sold over  a staggering 27,000 copies, almost unheard of for a local urban release and is in the process of releasing the next installment with Blazin' 3 which is set for Gold!

When Samrai's not Practicing in his room, he's spinning in major clubs all around Australia. Samrai holds residencies at Cave Nightclub, Bj’s and Home Nightclub in Sydney and is the only DJ in Australia to hold out of state monthly residencies in Melbourne, Brisbane & Perth. As a club DJ he has supported heavyweight names like The Black Eyed Peas, Ozimatly, Nivea, Taskforce, The Beatnuts, Shortkut from the Invisible Scratch Picklz, DJ Cash Money, Lil Jazz, Toured with Dj Craze, A-Trak and The Allies who he rates as the top turntablists in the world. For the past three years, he has been nominated as the Best Turntablist at the Australian Dance Music Awards, an amazing achievement for any DJ.

In 2004 Samrai was signed to be the newest member to the Auto Salon show group,Auto Sa lon is without a doubt the biggest National Car Expo to date,and whilst touring with the Blazin3 Album Samrai still manages to travell around the country with the Auto Salon team performing his amazing fast paced turntable trick sets.With Blazin2 and 3 also Blazin4 which is set for 2005,and the Auto Salon Expo which is held monthly and runs through 2004/2005,and with all samrai’s accomplishments from Winning Major DJ/Turntablist Competitions to spinning in Major HipHop/Rnb clubs around Australia it is trully hard to tell if Samrai is just a talented Dj or a machine.

When a young Samrai began Practicing on the turntables in his bedroom after school, little did he know that he would develop into one of the finest turntablist / Dj and Performers this country has ever seen. The former winner of the Australian DMC Championships displays a true talent when he steps up to the turntables. His potential is truly unlimited, and with so many years ahead of him it is easily  seen that Samrai is imminent for greatness.
