Their sets contain all the traits of house music from big up-tempo bass-lines to electronic drums to funky vocals. Oakes & Lennox have taken influence from artists such as Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, The Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Derrick Carter, Danny Howells, John Dahlback, Dubfire, Sebastian Leger, Dirty South and Deadmau5 to mention a few. With a broad taste in music, Oakes & Lennox have all the qualities that the best DJs have – persistence, consistency, dedication and a genuine passion for dance music. It is these qualities that make them well-respected amongst their peers as the leaders of the new breed, for they have the technical quality to match their ability to pull a crowd in this social networking era of promoter DJs. 2009 was their breakout year, scoring residencies at renowned Sydney parties French Kiss and Soho Saturdays which they still hold to this day. The demand for the duo has been hotter than a jalapeno, shown by their numerous appearances at most of Sydney’s best clubs including The Arthouse, Chinese Laundry, World Bar, Soho, Candy’s Apartment, Favela, The Greenwood, Home Nightclub, Ladylux, Nevermind, The Rouge, Tank as well as legendary parties such as Kink and Sounds on Sunday. Since their first date with Sydney’s dance music scene, a mutual love has developed between Oakes & Lennox and the scene. They have certainly not looked back, playing at some of the funkiest, craziest and biggest parties in Sydney. This list has included Ministry of Sound parties, including both the 2009 and 2010 Sydney editions of the Annual, Sessions Tours, Electro House Sessions tour and Summanights supporting Sebastian Leger on NYE 09/10 as-well as being featured week in and week out at some of Sydney’s best clubs. At such a young age, Oakes & Lennox have already played along and supported some of the biggest international acts in the world, with names including The Prodigy, Mark Knight, Eddie Halliwell, The Shapeshifters, Sharam, Dubfire, Bingo Players, Prok & Fitch, Afrojack, Arno Cost, Stephan Bodzin, Boris Dlugosch, Boys Noize, John Digweed, David Guetta, Erick Morillo to name but a few. Home-grown, they have also supported some of Australia’s leading DJ’s including Dirty South, Stafford Brothers, Tommy Trash, Goodwill, The Aston Shuffle and some of Sydney’s best local talent in the likes of Matt Nukewood, Ben Morris, Brenden Fing and John Glover. 2010 has already seen Oakes & Lennox continue their rise in the scene with their first appearance at the Sydney edition of Future Music Festival’s 2010 national tour, as well as their debut in the “In The Mix Top 50” where they placed #48 for local talent in Australia. For this dynamic duo, the sky is the limit. Or is it? |
