Not only is RobKAY a man of
immense dimensions, he is, more importantly, a
man of immense experience both behind the
decks and in the studio.
As a DJ, you can be sure as hell that
when RobKAY’s in the driver’s seat you’re in
for a thrilling ride. When he teams up with
musical maestro Ben Garden, he’s better known
as one half of internationally successful
Australian production outfits Cabin Crew and
Aviators.
Growing up in Canberra,
Rob’s passion for music during his early years
saw a quick rise to the top, taking out ACT #1
DJ in the Technics inthemix50 poll for two
consecutive years.
It wasn’t long after that the call of
the big smoke saw him move up to Sydney to
further his musical career as both DJ and
Producer.|
As a DJ Rob has quickly
established his name and trusty talents within
the Sydney club scene, with residencies and
appearances at Sydney’s hottest venues –
including Kink @ The Arthouse, Tank, Moulin
Rouge, YU, as well interstate appearances
everywhere from Perth to Magnetic Island -
testament to both his adaptability and the
popularity he commands. Internationally Rob
has made guest appearances from Dubai to the
U.S.A.
Whilst in the studio under the production
guise of Aviators (with long time friend Ben
Garden), Rob’s initial projects were met with
early success, This included chart topping
remixes of Craig Obey’s
Coolin
at the Bar &
Hyp-ma-tize-Me,
Soul System’s
Feels
So Good for Hed Kandi, as well as a string
of sought after white labels which ensured the
Aviators name as a mainstay in record bags
across the globe. Their rework of SoulIISoul’s
“Back to Life” later went on to be picked up
by US label, Soulfuric, and most notably their
release “Star2fall” (under the production name
Cabin
Crew) was picked up by industry
juggernauts Ministry of Sound UK and anthem
status ensued, with the track hitting #3 in
the UK singles chart as well as a licensing
deal including 14 countries.
Absorbed in remixing, under his collective
aliases Aviators, Cabin Crew and more recently
under his own moniker, Rob has completed
numerous projects including remixes for
Kaskade (In this life - #1 house downloaded
for 8 weeks in the house chart), Gaelle
and more recently Don Diablo. This year
also saw Rob’s mix of “Give Love” for the
Stafford Brothers was the mix of choice for
the latest Electro House Sessions compilation.
2008 is off to a flying start for Rob, kicking
off with a monster closing set to 20,000 revelers at Summafieldayze music festival on
Australia’s Gold Coast.
January will also see the release of
Cabin Crew’s follow up single “Can’t Stop It”
with a blazing remix package including mixes
from Kaskade, Aviators & Mind Electric. |
