The
Jackal’s sound can best be described as fat,
funky and fresh he plays a range of styles most
notably deep funky house and phat as breaks, he
has been known to infuse different styles into
the one set overlapping dirty electro sounds
with big basslines, percussive pumped up house,
phat break-beats and even hip hop. He has a
solid following in the Sydney scene because of
his ability to rev a crowd up whilst punching
out only the best quality music.
As well as Djing regularly around Sydney and Interstate for
the past 5 years with much success the Jackal has
promoted and run several renouned clubs nights in
Sydney, namely Sunday Grooves @ Sugareef,
Broke-N-Beats and Vinyl @ Zen, he hosted his own
prime time radio show with Sydney DJ Craig Obey
for 2 years on Kiss fm and did a mix-up on Triple
J aired nationally in Dec 2000.He has DJed at
almost every club in Sydney to packed houses and
holds down residencies at Good Vibrations, Kink,
Townhouse and Sounds on Sunday plus plays regular
spots at the successful Bustin’ parties in
Wollongong, the BlackFly parties in Newcastle,
Lunacy, Kerfuffle, Sunday Throwdown, Blowpop and
more plus other one off events like the Good Vibrations
Festival 2004, Sunburnt Xmas
2000 & Good Times Sound System 2003, Gatecrasher
2002 in Brisbane. Interstate The
Jackal has Rocked Heaven
in Canberra, the Berlin Bar
and Quest
on the Gold Coast, Moon Bar and Family in Brisbane
and has also spent the last two snow seasons
snowboarding and DJing at the Juice, Off the
Rails, Townhouse and Lunacy parties in Jindabyne
plus the Official Red Bull After Rails Party in
July 2003 where he played alongside Elroy and
Sydney Hip Hop act Downsyde. He has supported
Internationals such as Freq Nasty, Stanton
Warriors, Deejay Punk Roc, Kid Loco, Terry Ryan of
Atomic Hooligan, Barry Ashworth of the Dub
Pistols, Anthony Pappa, Lee Combes, Mogwai, Wally
Lopez, Felix the Housecat, Norman Jay, Giles
Peterson, DJ Falcon, ATFC, Mark Moore (S-Xpress),
Princess Julia, Paul Van Dyke, David Guetta, Low
Fidelity All-stars, Trademark from Amsterdam, Mr
Fox, Kenny Ken and the worlds number #1 MC
Skibadee. Also local dance music heavyweights:
Infusion, Pound System, Groove Terminator, Nubreed,
Phil K, Funk Corporation, Stephen Allkins and Andy
Van.
Last New Years Eve was a bussy one as he played
with Internationals Bob Sinclar & DJ Gregory, Joey
Negro, Tutto Matto and International Karate over 3
different events.
The Jackal has also got into production work
writing a track with Craig Obey and Carlos Gibbs
which got released on a compliation cd in the
United States on mixed elements. He has also
worked with MIKE and Elroy doing both original
work and remixes. One of those remixes (Get
Together) will be released soon on 12” through
Higher Sound Recordings
