Miss Match

Miss Match is without a doubt the freshest & hottest female talent to come out of Australia this past decade.

In a male dominated industry she has defied the odds of being pushed off the decks by the boyz, and can definately hold her own with a talent & flair like no other. Falling in love with house music years before she even picked up the headphones, it didn’t take long to make the transition. Self-taught, many hours of practise and dodgy gigs later - she is one of the most talented and sought after female DJ’s in Sydney.

Miss Match holds residencies in Sydney at Favela, Shipwrecked Events, The Lincoln Astral Bar, The Penguin Cruises, Hi Flyers Cruises, The Bank Hotel and last year was the resident DJ on the popular TV show “The Footy Show” each week.

Her Australian interstate demand has led Miss Match to the King St Hotel, CBD & Fanny’s in Newcastle, Billboard The Venue in Melbourne, The Met & The Planet in Brisbane, Rolling Rock in Noosa, 240v in Mooloolahbah, Grafton, Canberra, Coolangatta, Surfers, Mackay & Gosford – even cruises as far up as Townsville.

Miss Match gets booked time and time again as she dominates 5 genres of house music, - Jackin House; Vocal House; Electro House; Tech House; and Fidget. This makes her so accessible as a DJ in any club, anywhere around the world. Her precision on reading a crowd is shown in her talented sets, and she is now also becoming very well known for her unique “miss-match” sets, which basically means she combines all 5 styles within the one set taking her audience on an exciting & different journey not often heard in one sitting alone.

An overseas trip in August 2007 to Mykonos, the hub of partying on the Greek Islands and renowned for it’s impressive international DJ lineups at the clubs, Miss Match herself graced the decks in Tropicana, Paradise Club and Paradise Lounge Bar taking her to international DJ status after only 3 years on the circuit. This trip led to a summer residency in 2008 at Paradise Lounge Bar, Downunder Bar & Lizard Lounge.

After playing at the pinnacle club in London - Ministry Of Sound August 2008, Miss Match’s international career seems to be kicking off nicely. Gigs in 2009 in Kuala Lumpar - Malaysia, Attica - Singapore, Johannasburg - South Africa, Macau – China and then headlining the “Feel Negumbo Festival” in Sri Lanka last year shows there is no stopping this talent.

“Growing up in the country didn’t give me the greatest opportunity to hear a lot of different styles of music, so you could consider me a late bloomer. Am more than happy to admit I am THE biggest Michael Jackson fan. I studied every album, dance move, outfit, lyrics, notes and music composition for years and years. Learning from the biggest entertainer in the world has taught me to aim for the top and to work hard to become one of the best in my field...”

Even before the turntables were purchased, Miss Match had travelled the world with various DJ’s such as Jeremy Healy, Carl Cox, Eric Powell, Mistress Barbara, and DJ Heaven and got the opportunity to watch, learn and listen to some of the very best in the industry.

Miss Match started producing her own music in 2008 and “Tarantism” has been out and cranking in clubs ever since. It’s a House/Electro House track and fans of Miss Match will say it reflects her through and through. With Miss Georgia Brown on vocals & scratch ensembles by Blis’n’Eso it is unique and distinctly Miss Match. Another release “Daraboka Sunrise”, a sexy deep house track can be heard on her myspace page AND she has a brand new Progressive Tech House track hot off the press called “Ophelia” which is currently being remixed & due for release on Beatport in March 2010.

Something that also must be mentioned is her inspiration - the man who really opened her eyes to whom she owes her direction and strength to, and getting dirty on the decks - DJ Mitch James.

“Mitch was my partner of 5 years who passed away with cancer in 2001. I am carrying on his legacy and passion, and hope that by following my dreams I am able to bring the music we fell in love with, to the rest of the world... Music has carried me through some of the best and worst times in my life.... the best times are now spent behind the decks...”

Some other close friends and colleagues in the industry whom Miss Match has the utmost respect for, are Jonny and Dave from The Potbelleez who produced the No.1 hits “Don’t Hold Back” “Are You With Me” and “Trouble”.

“Miss Match is without a doubt our favourite female DJ...Amanda is ‘incredible’ live. Her energy, skills, passion and natural presence and beauty behind the decks make her a very rare breed...She is the fastest rising female DJ star in Australia, but is a superstar already in our eyes, and it won’t take long before everyone knows about Miss Match...We adore her.”
