Starting out life as a mobile disco outfit in his native Yorkshire, he
ended up as a pop star in the form of The world famous Jive Bunny &
the mastermixers topping the worlds charts. During the early nineties
Les really found himself in the burgeoning young club scene. It's been
a long journey for Les, and he's worked harder than most to gain the
respect of peers and
the DJ "A List".
Following a local club residency and various UK bookings he left the
country for a seven-year tour of Europe. In this time Les performed
at hundreds of clubs and presented on various European radio stations,
whilst locking himself away in the studio developing the studio
techniques that would lead to a career in record production.
Back
on British soil, Les began work on his euphoric trance sound, and
found himself with loyal followers who began to follow him up and down
the country as he tested out his sound.
After a chance meeting with
Chris Jennings, a string of massive anthems as Sagitaire, Merge and
Hemstock & Jennings, lined the Uks record shops, and now Hemstock and
Jennings are one of the most in demand remix and production
teams in the UK today (check out his discography if you don't believe
us!) Over the last couple of years he has remixed the likes of Ian Van
Dahl, Warp Brothers and Joshua Ryan, and H&J music has become the
staple musical diet
of clubs such as Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Cream and Passion. DJ
highlights included broadcasting from the live soundstage in Ibiza on
BBC Radio 1, and the launch of his own label 'Phaze', whilst 2004 will
see the launch of Les's own 'Hemstock' solo project.
Recently,
Les has been in the studio with the godfather of trance music, PAUL
VAN DYK. Their track "Nothing But You" was the first record from PVDs
album and has to date charted top 20 worldwide.
With DJ dates around globe, and a production schedule as long as his
career, it's going to be a very busy 2004 for Les Hemstock.
