DJ Matteo

At the age of 24, Matteo ESSE is one of the hottest rising talents on the scene.

He started DJing back in 1997 and now he regularly DJ’s at some of the world’s most famous venues: from Rome to Miami, passing through London, Paris, Ibiza, Berlin, Moscow and New York, with a busy DJ schedule which includes gigs in the US, UK, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Russia and of course his native Italy.

Matteo ESSE has established himself as a widely respected producer, being one half of the Solsonik outfit (with the musician Sant) and providing productions and remixes for House music’s finest artists such as StoneBridge, Sabrynaah Pope, Barbara Tucker, Kym Mazelle, Darryl D’Bonneau, Dawn Tallman, Oliver Cheatam and Jocelyn Brown, alongside releasing for some of the biggest record labels such as Universal, Vale, Warner, V2, suSU, Casa Rosso and Oxyd.

He has also remixed as well for the House music classics Sandy B “Make The World Go Round” on Champion Records, Luca Cassani vs Simpson Tune “Bring It Down” on Rise Records / Time Records and DJ Pierre & Marshall Jefferson “Clap Your Hands” on Essence Records, and successfully runs the A&R for one of Italy’s most rated House labels: Cosmonote Blue.

Regular DJ support for Matteo ESSE productions and remixes comes from across the board from David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez and Masters At Work to Deep Dish, Murk, Lee Cabrera, Scumfrog, Superchumbo, Seb Fontaine, Full Intention, Steve Lawler, Bob Sinclar, Mousse T., Shakedown, Junior Jack & Kid Créme, Spiller and Claudio Coccoluto to name but a few.

His 2004 Manifesto Records signing “You & Me (In Miami)” featuring Chance (backing vocalist for Italian pop star Zucchero) has reached #2 of the Hype Chart and the top 20 of best of Hype Chart 2003 in DJ Magazine. The record has reached about 1.000.000 copies on compilation sales alone and has been included on Ministry Of Sound’s “Anthems Of House” album spotting the best records of House music’s history.

With the Cr2 Records (formerly known as Credence) release of the much anticipated follow up single “My Revolution” featuring Steve Edwards (of Cassius “The Sound Of Violence” fame), licensed to Hussle Recordings / Ministry Of Sound Australia and featured on Space Ibiza’s (voted best club in the world) official compilation, plus the remixes for Armand Van Helden “Into Your Eyes” on Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried Records (which has reached the top 40 of the sales charts in the UK and has been licensed to Ultra Records in US, P.I.A.S. Recordings in Europe and Shock Records in Australia) and Jupiter Ace “Until The Music Stops” on Seamus Haji’s Big Love Music (#1 of Pete Tong’s Buzz Chart), 2005 looks good for him.

Keep your ears peeled for new Matteo ESSE productions featuring Corrina Joseph (singer for Basement Jaxx) and Taka Boom (singer for Joey Negro) and remixes for Morillo and Audio Bullys (on the infamous Subliminal Records), Robbie Rivera (on DJ Tiesto and Armin Van Bureen’s Nebula / EMI Virgin and on his own Juicy Music imprint) and Deepswing (on Generate Music), and watch out for him gigging all around the world from America to Australia, passing through Europe and Asia.

Matteo ESSE is the very first DJ who has been asked to be part of the teaching staff at the A.P.M. School (Advanced Musical Proficiency Course) in Saluzzo (Italy) too.
