MICHAEL WOODS

Michael Woods is one of the hottest producers and re-mixers around. He started his music career as the apprentice engineer to label mate Matt Darey. Michael’s break came when his sister Marcella Woods, Matt and himself collaborated on the M3 release ‘Bailamos’ on Inferno Records. However, it was his debut single ‘Warrior’ that finally propelled Michael to his current status of dance music’s man of the moment. It was one of the hottest anthems of the summer 2000, reaching No.1 in the UK Club Chart, with huge clubs like Gatecrasher still playing it regularly to this day. On release it entered the UK top 40 at #19.

Michael followed up the success and haunting vocals of ‘Warrior’ (delivered by the talented Stacey Charles) with “Voodoo”. “Voodoo” quickly established itself as an anthem in the same mould as “Warrior”. A big track at Gatecrasher and with key DJs across the country it became Warrior's 2nd Top 40 hit when released.

Michael has since remixed everyone from Ian Van Dahl and Sonique to Iio, Delirium, State One and Lost Tribe.

He went on to release “If You Want Me”. With Juliet Jaime’s (Holly Valance “Kiss Kiss”) responsible for the memorable lyrics and Aussie bombshell Imogen Bailey on vocals. The record was a huge club hit as an instrumental and continued to be a d.j and club favourite with the addition of vocals and Bailey. Following “If You Want Me” Michael had an even bigger taste of success with “Close to The Edge” (Solex). The record became a favourite not only in the record boxes of Judge Jules, Tiesto and Paul Van Dyke but it was play-listed on the UK’s Radio one. It was subsequently added to play lists around the country and ultimately around the world. “Close To The Edge” received rave responses from around the globe including Italy, Germany and South Africa.

Never one to stand still while there are new beats to be made, Michael hasn’t stopped working since the gone but not forgotten days of “Warrior”. He recently enlisted his sister Marcella Woods (“Beautiful” and “Liberation” Matt Darey) to add her dynamic vocals to his latest record and collaboration with Judge Jules “So Special”. Still not standing still Michael decided to diversify his sound and so from his studio came the funky house record “I Won’t Sleep” (under his alias Michael Antonio). “I wont sleep” adds a long anticipated string to the Michael woods bow, it’s being released by Incentive Music and it is attracting the ears of many a funky house addict. Dave Pearce is playing it and when a quick thinking bootlegger smelt success he promptly mixed “I Won’t Sleep” with an “Eminem” record. Whilst some would want to kill the bootlegger for jumping on their back, both Michael and Incentive Records are more than happy with the buzz it has created for the record. As far as transitions go it seems that Michael Antonio and his funky house tunes are welcome.

No, Michael Woods has not left the trance building, he is continuing his collaborations with Judge Jules and Matt Darey and is now on the books of Serious Management. He is spinning records for club goers worldwide and has lined up with the likes of Judge Jules, Marco V and Scott Bond. Michael Woods is being predicted as one of the hottest up and coming DJ’s in the land. From the moment he delivered his mix-up to Serious Management D.J Michael Woods has been in steady demand.
