Background: As
a partygoer he would literally hear more than most others, his passion for
the music growing with each year in the
scene, with parties such as Space
Cadet, Fantasia, Tribal, Pleasuredome, Colossus, A Perfect World and MDMA.
This passion and constant inspiration from the all the well established
DJs led him to chase the dream to reality.
Since
1995 when he was given his big break at parties such as Smurf
Village and Happiest
People in the World, Chester
has headlined at all major events, you name the party and he’s played. An obvious result of this popularity was the constant demand for tunes people could play in their cars, or while getting ready for a party, hence the Morning Glory series of cassettes. The effect that Chester’s music can have on your mood was immortalized in these 7 cassettes, which all sold out within weeks of release. They are now hot property amongst die-hard fans! Along the journey Chester tried his hand at promoting, with partner Peter Tribe he launched and maintained one of the longest running club for ravers ever, the Breakfast Club. Spanning over two years, and two venues, this Friday night event became the official start to the weekend for most partygoers in the dance party scene. Chester’s strong skills as a DJ, and his ability to select and present the music the crowds craved mean that his sets at the Breakfast Club will always be remembered. Also promoting the original eckythump series dances parties which were all hugely successful, as well as Passion 2 and Passion 3. As
a DJ, Chester has been one of the most favoured and respected DJ’s in
Sydney over the past seven years, playing
main room morning sets at such massive events as Utopia,
Back to Basics, Love Nation, Helter Skelter,
Adrenalin,
FOD4, Colossus, Hyperspeed, Godspeed, Prophecy,
Tripple Trouble, Happy Valley and United, together
with headlining most of the smaller underground parties including Passion,
Area 51, Scattered, Mystic, Someone's
on the Decks, Rave
Back in Time and
many more. As he heads towards a decade of involvement in the Sydney dance scene, Chester’s magic was once again available to us with the release of the Utopia 2 CD which was distributed throughout NSW, QLD and Melbourne. Also with the release of Morning Glory 7 mid 2002 and towards the end of 2002 with Rave Theme 5 CD. So no matter where you are, or what time of day it is, your are able to relive those feelings he can so easily evoke with his carefully selected tunes. With an uplifting style that was once described to him as “chester style”, his early years of DJ'ing consisted of Hi-NRG anthems blended with the happy hard tunes that know other DJs would dare to play, these days his sets consist of euphoric vocalized tranced Happy Hard along with the occasional Happy Hard Anthem Set, saving his Hi-NRG anthem sets for more selective crowds! Where to from here? Well, the crowd support hasn’t died, if anything it continues to grow with each new generation of partygoers. The scene may appear to change from year to year, but one-thing remains, those that truly love the music. Chester is living proof of this. |
