When dance parties shifted away from the clubs and into warehouses, fields and backyards, Jumping Jack (aka Paul Fernandez) maintained his popularity, and was one of the first DJs to flirt with the harder sounds of techno and house that were to become unique to the Sydney scene. He regularly performed across the country at just about every major event on the calendar. From the revered Psychosis series to Krackerjack, Prodigy, Flim Flam, Love, Strawberry Fields and Aztec, Jumping Jack was billed on countless flyers while his mix tapes developed a cult following amongst punters. During the mid '90s Rave moved back into the clubs, and festivals sprang up across the country. Jumping Jack moved with them, landing residencies at legendary clubs such as Sublime, Icebox, Daily Planet, Zoom @ Mars, The Underground, Club 77, Home, Greenwood and Bubble. Throughout this period Jumping Jack was billed alongside some of the worldwide dance community's finest ambassadors - Orbital, The Shamen, Carl Cox, The Breeder, Sasha, CJ Bolland, Armin van Buuren, John Digweed, Tiesto and Grooverider to name a few. As a DJ, Jumping Jack is renowned for his technical proficiency and seamless mixing skills. Along with these attributes, his distinctive style and diverse taste in house, trance and techno are what gives him his edge. On the commercial recording scene he's had several top selling CDs including CD of the month at Sanity. Jumping Jack has also produced, mastered and remixed tracks for a number of local and international artists, including Michael Wells (Force Mass Motion), Subsonic, Nik Fish, Abel and Mach V. "The Art of Trance" features an exciting mix of floaty trance and storming tech trance, and showcases the flawless mixing talents, unique energy and charisma that Jumping Jack is renowned for. |
